Step 4 – Prep Surfaces
It’s time to get busy cleaning up the bits that we are going to reuse. Use sandpaper, a fine file, or dremel to clean out the inside of the motor can. Remove all traces of old bonding agent and make a nice rough surface for the JB Weld glue to key into.
Roughen up the outside curve of the magnets as well, but don’t go overboard – you don’t want to go through the coating (not all three of them anyway). It is probably worth rubbing both surfaces with rubbing alcohol to remove any trace of oily residue.
