24Volt Broken Bosch Drill into ‘Super’ Drill

This is a fix/hack for the Bosch PSB24 VE-2 battery powered drill that may also work for others.  The modification has a fun upgrade thrown in.

Bosch PSB24 VE2

The Bosch PSB24 VE2 has a well known fault with its permanent magnet motor. The magnets are not bonded to the can very well and tend to come away, usually cracking in the process. The Bosch service centre will not repair these, saying it is not economic. As the motor is a ‘sealed’ unit, it makes it difficult to repair. But with a little ingenuity and a Dremel (or similar) tool, it is not too much trouble to sort out.

But we don’t just want to sort it out though, right? We want to make it a SUPER DRILL!

The permanent magnets should be stuck to the inside of the motor can and not come out when you pull the armature out.

I have had the same problem as above, I have stripped the motor and the magnetic field on one side fell out, I would be very gratfull if you could tell me where to purchase new magnetic fields.

    Ken,
You can get a new magnetic field in the same shops where you buy electric currents, flux capacitors and elbow grease.

I have a little used one of these drills which appears to have “seized up” it won’t rotate. Does this sound like same problem
